Island House
Stunningly situated on a private island in Hancock that's accessible by footbridge, this tranquil oceanfront home enjoys spectacular views of Mount Desert Island and the coast of Downeast Maine. This is a place to relax, unwind, and spend your days exploring the many beauties of Acadia National Park.
This island retreat is located between two former lobster pounds (no longer in use) on Mount Desert Narrows, where low tides expand a rocky beach that sits just below the deck. When the water is clear, you can sometimes spot the resident crustacean, Leonardo da Pinchi, in the larger pound; when the weather is clear, you'll be treated to some of the best stargazing in Maine.
The home's interior is just as serene as the setting, offering natural wood planking, large windows, and views of Mount Desert Island from the living room and primary bedroom (as well as the deck). In between day trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor, you can curl up with a good book in the oceanfront living room or use the kitchen appliances and the gas grill to prepare homemade meals. Each evening, simply toss the day's clothes in the washer/dryer, choose a movie to watch on the smart TV, and set up a board game in the dining room overlooking the water.
